Guests will meet at the Cape Town Waterfront, where they will be collected and dropped off after the tour.
Our adventure will take us into ecosystems like strandveld, sand plains fynbos, Cape lowland wetland vegetation and indigenous coastal fynbos vegetation with unique plants found nowhere else in the world.
6:30 AM – Collection at Cape Town Waterfront.
– Meet at the Cape Town Waterfront where guests will be collected to begin the tour.
7:00 AM – Arrive at Rondevlei Nature Reserve.
– We will start our day at Rondevlei Nature Reserve, located in the suburb of Grassy Park. This hidden gem in Cape Town is a conservation area boasting a variety of indigenous flora and fauna. In addition to its diverse birdlife, the reserve is home to small mammals and reptiles, including our target species, the Cape Dwarf Chameleon (Bradypodion pumilum).
7:15 AM – Brief & Intro to the Reserve & Chameleons.
Introduction to the Rondevlei Nature Reserve, and brief on how to search for the Cape Dwarf chameleon.
8:00 AM – Search for the Cape Dwarf Chameleon.
– Explore the reserve’s fynbos and wetland vegetation in search of the Cape Dwarf Chameleon. Keep an eye out for other wildlife such as the local Hippo pod, Cape Grysbok, the Common Duiker, and various reptile species, as well as the over 230 species of birds, including the African Fish Eagle and the Malachite Kingfisher.
11:00 AM – Drinks and Coffee at Bird Hide.
– Take a break at one of the bird hides to enjoy drinks and coffee while photographing the local bird life and soaking in the natural beauty of the reserve.
12:30 PM – Return to Cape Town Waterfront.
– After a morning of exploration and wildlife spotting, we will return to the Cape Town Waterfront, where guests will be dropped off.
