The natural world is filled with an incredible array of plants and animals. Sumatra is home to one of the most biodiverse rainforests in the world. The Leuser ecosystem is home to Sumatran elephants, the Sumatran tiger, two species of Orangutang, gibbons and the critically endangered Sumatran rhino.
This expedition is unique in that we will be giving back to the forest and the communities by getting involved in the restoration of the rainforest through agro-foresty and permaculture principles, planting trees that will expand the boundaries of the rainforest and help ensure its survival against the palm oil industry. Moving through the rainforest to different locations in search of: one of the Great apes the orangutang, Malayan blue coral snake, 2 species of flying snakes, reticulated pythons, Waglers pitvipers and many more amazing species of herps and wildlife.
Enjoy the thought of sleeping in campsites along side rainforest rivers, tracking orangutang and elephants all the while looking for reptiles and amphibians then this is the trip for you.
