Join us on an expedition to South Africa’s western region, where we’ll journey to some of the most remote and unique locations in the country. Our expert explorers will guide you on a journey to uncover the rare and fascinating species of herpetofauna found in this region.

Our expedition will take you on a journey through a variety of landscapes, from high mountain peaks to arid Karoo scrub and parts of the Kalahari desert. Our goal is to spot as many species of herpetofauna as possible, including the famous Cape cobra, dwarf adders, dwarf tortoises, boomslang, Cape Coral snake, and Black spitting cobra. These creatures are not only fascinating to observe but are also an important part of the ecosystem in this region.

Our expedition is not for the faint of heart, as we take you off the beaten path and deep into the heart of South Africa’s wilderness. Along the way, we’ll visit the Kgalaghadi Transfrontier National Park, where we’ll have the opportunity to spot some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife, including cheetahs, leopards, lions, and elephants. This park is also home to the famous yellow morph Cape cobra, one of the most stunning cobras in the world. Day 1

Cape Town

As you arrive in Cape Town, you'll be struck by the sheer beauty of this African metropolis. Settle into your hotel and get a good night's rest before the excitement of the coming days.

Day 2

Cape Town to West Coast National Park

Begin your day with a visit to Rondevlei Nature Reserve, where you'll have the chance to spot Cape Dwarf chameleons, boomslang, and a variety of birdlife, and if you're lucky, even a few hippos. Then head to West Coast National Park, where you'll settle into your accommodations and venture out for a night walk in search of elusive creatures.

Day 3 - 4

West Coast National Park

The next two days will be spent exploring West Coast National Park, where you'll be on the lookout for the venomous Cape cobra, puff adders, and the strikingly beautiful Harlequin snake. And, while you're there, don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for majestic Eland, Blesbok, and Ostrich.

Day 4 - 6

Northern Cederburg

Venture into the Northern Cederberg mountains, where you'll embark on hikes in search of some of the region's most elusive species, including the Black spitting cobra, Cape Coral snake, and bug-eyed house snake. And while you're there, be sure to take in the awe-inspiring Bushman rock art.

Day 6 - 8

Port Nolloth

Your next stop is the coastal dunes of the west coast, where you'll have the chance to see some of the world's smallest adders, such as the Namaqua dwarf adder, as well as Austins dune geckos and the delightfully plump Desert rain frog. And keep your eyes peeled for the Western Dwarf chameleons, too!

Day 8 - 10

Klein pella

Embark on a journey into the quartz ridges and mountains on the border of South Africa and Namibia, where you'll discover some of the region's most beautiful species, including the Desert mountain adder, two species of tiger snakes, and the horned adder. And don't forget to take a moment to take in the breathtaking scenery.

Khagalagi Transfontier National Park

Take a break from herping and head into the Kalahari desert, where you'll have the chance to encounter some of Africa's most iconic wildlife, including cheetahs, leopards, lions, and elephants. And keep an eye out for the bright yellow morph Cape cobra on the hunt.

Springbok

The next few days will be spent exploring one of the most biodiverse and productive herping areas in Northern Cape. Keep your eyes peeled for the Many horned adder, horned adder, tiger snakes, and coral snakes, and, if you're lucky, you may even spot the holy grail: fisks house snake.

Cape Town

As your adventure comes to a close, you'll be left with memories that will last a lifetime. You'll travel back to Cape Town, reflecting on the incredible experiences you've had and the amazing creatures you've encountered. From the majestic big game of Khagalagi Transfontier National Park to the elusive Namaqua dwarf adder, your journey has taken you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes and diverse ecosystems on the planet.
